The ARLC are set to announce Kevin Walters as the next Australian head coach for the three-match Ashes series at the end of the year.

The former Broncos and Maroons coach has reportedly signed a deal for just three games for now. It’s unclear if Walters will continue in the role following the Ashes series.

It appears likely that Walters will keep the gig if the Aussies are able to win the series in England.

Walters will replace Mal Meninga in the plum job with Meninga having to step down from the role given his new position as the head coach of the Perth Bears.

On the desk for Fox League’s Sunday Ticket, Walters was asked about Code Sports’ report that he would lead the Kangaroos.

“I can’t tell you anything. There will be a decision made tomorrow,” Walters straight batted.

“It would be a privilege to coach the green and gold.”
